Francis Williams, a celebrated Haida artist, worked in diverse media, including silkscreen prints, argillite, wood, and copper. However, he was mainly known for his hand-carved silver and gold jewellery. Francis studied fine art and commercial art at Camosun College, Victoria and also received instruction from Art Adams of Masset. His influences originated from artwork within the Royal B.C. Museum and he exhibited widely in B.C. and Japan. One of his silver bracelets was recently featured in the Burke Museum's 2007 'In the Spirit of the Ancestors' exhibition. He passed away on June 11, 2003.
