Outside Looking In by KC Hall
Silkscreen
Edition of 125
30" x 20"
The title is a reference to being on the outside and not quite belonging, because of the non-traditional aspects of his art. The design itself shows the contrast between the contemporary and the more traditional aspects of KC's art.
"The Wolf represents my style of art. He is a savage and he does what he wants. For instance, you will see the top part of the design in the teal colour in a more contemporary style. And the bottom in red is more of the traditional form (It shows the Sisiutl, the Double Headed Serpent). The red represents the backlash, or a stop light indicating that some people think the form line shouldn't be changed, but I added the drips to show that either way, the new style I'm working with will spill into the traditional style without breaking its foundation of form."
