Mark Henderson

Mark Henderson was a Kwakwaka'wakw artist from the Wei-Wai-Kum band, born in 1953 in Campbell River, BC. His father, master carver Chief Sam Henderson, began teaching him to paint at the age of eleven. Of his sixteen siblings, three are also artists: Bill, Dan, and Ernie. Mark was influenced by Kwakwaka'wakw masters such as Henry Speck, Mungo Martin, and Willie Seaweed. Mark passed away in October, 2016.
