Stuart Pagaduan

Stuart Pagaduan is a Coast Salish artist born in 1970. He was raised by his grandparents on the S'amun'a Reserve in the Cowichan Valley, where they instilled in him the value and importance of his ancestral language and culture. Stuart later apprenticed under his uncle, the late Seletze’ (Delmar Johnnie) -- an experience which turned Stuart into a proud advocate and lifelong learner of traditional Coast Salish Art. That being said, he is in equal measure dedicated to stylistic innovation, which is reflected in his unique choice of creatures coupled with ancient Cowichan stories. Stuart also teaches language and culture as he continues to produce work in a variety of mediums. He feels that it is a privilege and honour to be able to successfully combine his passion for art, education, and culture into one very rewarding career.
