Robert's daughter, Sara, participated in an educational tour of the Soviet Union organized by a non-profit group from San Francisco. Robert suggested they co-produce a print as a fundraiser, with both father and daughter contributing to the design. Donations over a certain amount received the print, giving it independent marketing outside of the gallery network.

"I designed the Raven and left the internal circle for her to design. I think she thought I would straighten the lines out when I was cutting the stencil but I couldn't do it -- that's the way it was drawn."
